International College Students and Indonesian Students from VSA Participate in Thai Herbal Medicine Workshop at FHSS-TSU
On August 6, 2024, the Faculty of Health and Sports Science at Thaksin University ( FHSS-TSU), Phatthalung Campus, organized a workshop on making Thai herbal medicines and traditional Thai massage. Dr. Wallapa Choeibuakaew, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Sports Science, welcomed the participants, which included students and faculty from the International College of Thaksin University, Indonesian students from the Health and Wellness program associated with the Volunteer Spirit Association (VSA), and students from the Thai traditional medicine program.
In the morning, the first part of the workshop focused on making Plai Balm, a Thai herbal remedy known for alleviating muscle pain, and creating herbal inhalers using 11 different Thai herbs, each with unique medicinal properties and distinct aromas. The second part of the workshop centered on Thai traditional massage using the Plai Balm, including learning massage techniques and specific points on the body to relieve various types of pain. In the afternoon, participants visited a Thai herbal garden, where a faculty member from the Faculty of Health and Sports Science guided the tour and provided explanations about various Thai herbal plants. The purpose of this workshop was to allow students to learn the process of making Thai herbal medicines and gain knowledge about Thai herbs and their applications in the medical field.
